He is a Blessing

We asked her why did you call him Blessing and her reply was, because he is a blessing from God!

Last night, we spent some time up in Mama A’s tiny room in the shelter, as small as it is she really has made it home for her little boy who is only 7 weeks old. I cannot believe how time off the streets changes one’s complexion, how beautiful she is looking, and she just has this amazing glow about her and a smile that can light up a room.

Little baby Blessing was born via C-section and after giving birth transferred to a specialised hospital due to lump on his back. Mama A let me read the hospital report and this poor little chap has Spina Bifida. It is still early day’s so we are not sure of the damage it has caused but one thing we know the hospital has already given her a letter to visit the nearest SASSA branch which I feel so sad. Yes, she is able to get a disability grant for him but sad because he has now been labelled with a disability.

Mama A has been out of the industry now going on nearly 5 months and I asked her what are her plans for the future, what does she really want to do in life? What is going to happen with her little baby Blessing. Shelter life is not the best life for her. Her answer was I will never give up on him, I named him Blessing because he is a gift from God. I would love a job as a receptionist or something in customer service because I love dealing with people. I will place Blessing in nursery school while I care for him with all my heart. I want to return to my family home once I prove to them that I have made a change in my life and I will forever be grateful for the help and love that eXpose HOPE have given me in the start to this new journey.

This is when we need your help.

eXpose HOPE wants to be able to pay Mama’s A’s rent for the next 3-6 months, assist her with food vouchers and baby products, transport costs to an outpatient program and then find her that dream job! Can you help?
